Meet Celine

Celine correctly describes herself as food obsessed, and is excited to share this passion with people who also love food and cooking. She learned to cook from her mother as a child and then went to culinary school at the Korean Food Foundation, the best institute to learn about traditional Korean food. She enjoys learning about different cuisines and takes cooking classes on most of her travels, so she can bring back something new to her kitchen each time! Even though Korean food is gaining popularity on the world food map, Celine promises there are still lots of interesting stories and secrets behind Korean food that only the locals know!

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (2-6 guests) Celine and her mom will welcome you to their river side apartment with stunning views of the Han River! While you sip on your welcome tea, Celine will introduce you to Korean food and culture and how they believe 'food is medicine!' Koreans don’t eat just for taste but to live long and healthy lives. You might be served traditional, fresh, healthy and colorful dishes such as bulgogi (grilled beef with soy barbeque sauce) or kimchi jeon (savory pancake with kimchi), japchae (glass noodle with beef and vegetables) or kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew with tofu and pork), while seated down on floor cushions.

Cooking experience: (2-6 guests) In your hands-on cooking class you will learn various Korean cooking techniques and will use them to prepare japchae (glass noodle) and sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew). Celine will also tell you all about food pairing and how certain ingredients are paired with another to bring out the best flavor. The recipes you will learn in your two hour cooking class are easy, simple yet delicious recipes that you can recreate back home. This a hands-on cooking class where each one will get person will get their own pot and stove, and will cook individually.

Traveler reviews

Celine is very friendly and informative about the Korean food culture. Her advance preparation of food and utensils, her instructions and background explanation of the ingredients were great. So were the resulting dishes! We truly enjoyed the experience of cooking in her home. - Seattle Foodies October 31, 2017

Celine’s home was very clean, nice interiors – a good combination of old traditional Korean ornaments and contemporary things. In Korea, in many restaurants they cook using too much MSG, so I kind of expected it, but no, on the contrary, the food was very healthy, good quality meat, fresh ingredients, and very traditional dishes. I usually don’t like kimchi stew and do not eat it in restaurants, but thanks to Celine I got to love this stew, it had a nice flavor, not very spicy and a bit sour as she used kimchi made at home – it was so good! Throughout this experience one can learn more about K culture! - Traveling Spoon Ambassador, Diana
