WHAT WILL YOU COOK TOGETHER:
  • A spice mix
  • Bisibele Bhath ( one pot dish that has lentils, rice, vegetables and spices all cooked together, as a spicy-tangy meal)
INGREDIENTS:
  • Chilies
  • 4 sprigs curry leaves
  • 4 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 13/4 tbsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp black peppercorns
  • 3 cloves
  • 1/2-inch cinnamon stick
  • 3/4 cup (150g) split pigeon peas (toor dal)
  • 3/4 cup (150g) uncooked rice
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp freshly grated or ground or sliced coconut
  • 1 medium onion, diced or sliced
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp tamarind paste
  • Mixed vegetables (10 string beans cut into 1-inch pieces, 1 carrot diced into 1-inch pieces, 1 medium potato diced into 1-inch pieces, 1 medium green bell pepper diced)
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
