Your host Josefina
Josefina, a special advisor of foreign affairs by day, has been cooking since she was 12. Josefina’s interest in food was first sparked by her father, the cook of their family who had an early interest in gourmet food and cooking. While other children were picked up and served spaghetti for lunch, her father would pick her up from school and serve perfectly prepared chicken with an orange reduction sauce. “He trained my tastes”, she says. While studying global studies abroad, Josefina had the opportunity to cook for an international crew of friends, and also was welcomed into their homes and kitchens around the world. “I have been received in homes from around the world, and want to return that experience to other travelers.” Josefina’s boyfriend Ignacio, an advertising professional who was born and raised in Buenos Aires, similarly loves hosting others. Together they invite travelers to cook a gourmet, modern Argentinean meal.

"We had an absolute blast and the entire experience - making the reservation with TS, preparing for the event with our hosts, the actual cooking class, and the enjoyment of our meal were all absolutely first rate! I gave this as a gift to my fiancé for Valentine’s Day since we are frustrated that we cannot travel due to the pandemic. This really scratched the itch! At first we quickly made new friends in Buenos Aires, but then we felt like we were old friends with total comfort and a special connection! The food was delicious, not too hard or easy to make. The communication so we could prepare accordingly was excellent, the instruction while we were cooking was at the perfect level. The pace was also excellent as we did not dawdle nor rush. If we needed to slow down or redo something, no problem. If we wanted to take a couple minutes to have a virtual toast together and get a few glimpses of the Saturday night live in Buenos Aires, we did. Just truly perfect top to bottom, an amazing experience, and we will definitely do another class with them! Actually, we plan on visiting them when we can as well as having them come see us at our home in Austin, Texas! Highly recommend Traveling Spoon and even more so, Josefina and Ignacio!"

"Josefina & Ignacio were fantastic hosts. Her English is impeccable. They showed us around their apartment and outside Buenos Aires. The meal was easy to prepare and very delicious. Early on, we made a critical mistake and Josefina innovated with us. Everything turned out fantastic. I strongly recommend them!"

"This was mine and my wife’s first time ever doing anything like this at all. So going into it I was not sure what to expect and I was nervous there might be a big language barrier. Once the class started though it was absolutely amazing! She was very easy to understand and gave us all the time that we needed since we were new and didn’t exactly know what we were doing. She also made sure to re explain things when we were unsure if we were doing the steps properly. It was overall an amazing experience and we are looking forward to signing up for another class."
