Learn about the difference between pinchos and tapas and cook local Valencia favorites. The goal of this Valencia tapas online cooking class is to have a great time eating, drinking, cooking and chatting with a local as you eat and imbibe like a native Valencian.

  • Tinto verano, an easy Spanish cocktail

  • 1 lb (500 g) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 5 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced
  • 2 small cayenne peppers
  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Bread or baguette for dipping
  • 4 medium potatoes, chopped into 1/2" cubes
  • 1-2 cups olive oil for frying
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • ⅔ – ¾ cup olive oil
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tbsp pimentón picante (hot smoked paprika) or cayenne peper
  • 1½ tbsp pimentón dulce (sweet smoked paprika) or regular paprika
  • 1–2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian version)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 bottle of young table wine (don't waste top-quality wine but don't use hangover wine either!)
  • 1 can of Fanta lemon or other lemon soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon wedge
