Meet Andrea

Andrea loves to cook - her kitchen is always open and pretty much her favorite place to be! Andrea moved to the USA from France, where she had lived for 25 years. Her family and friends all over the world have definitely influenced her culinary skills, but Andrea is especially inspired by her son - a formally trained French chef. Andrea and her son operate and experiment vicariously through one another's cooking experiences. Andrea loves to host, and has shared many French culture themed meals in her home. Andrea strives to ensure that her food is presented attractively on the plate and finds it extremely important that taste is enhanced naturally through herbs, spices and essences. Andrea recently moved to Southern California and her dream is to share her knowledge of healthy French inspired cuisine with travelers!

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

Cooking experience: (1-6 guests) Join your host Andrea at her beautiful kitchen to learn to cook a healthy French-inspired meal from recipes that she has learned from her friends and family all over the world. Your hands-on French cooking class will last about 2 hours during which you will learn to cook three dishes from scratch. Some of the dishes you might learn to cook are gougères au fromage, doughy cheese puffs, coq au vin, a classic French stew, and Amandine aux poires, pear almond tart. Enjoy learning about the tips and techniques involved in healthy French cooking before you sit down at the table to share a 4-course meal you helped prepare with host Andrea. Weather permitting, Andrea will offer an outdoor eating experience!

Notes: Andrea is happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free requests. If you choose the optional alcohol add-on, Andrea serves wine. Please note that during the pandemic, Andrea can accept a party of 6 if it is for a family and if the meal is served outdoors at lunch time. Her dining table is not separate from the kitchen area and she wants to keep everyone safe.

We had a lovely time with Andrea and Stéphane, they were incredibly welcoming hosts. The ambience, food and friendliness made for an exceptional evening. I would absolutely do this again, they even accommodated our special request. Highly recommend this experience!

Andrea welcomed us into her beautiful home like we were old friends. She gave us a quick hands on demonstration of the French dish “gougéres “, then we sat (socially distanced) at the table with her family and made easy conversation while they treated us with more amazing French dishes, wine and dessert. The experience was beyond pleasant and one I would highly recommend to anyone looking to make new friends, dine on delicious food and learn a little bit about French culture.

Andrea and Stephane welcomed us into their lovely home. We learned how to make gougeres au forage (these really delicious and airy cheese puffs), and how to tinker with the recipe by adding different ingredients if we want to. They both have very interesting backgrounds, and both the conversation and the food were wonderful. Such an enjoyable experience!
