Meet Emmanuelle

Emma was born and raised in the south of France. She spent 13 years in Paris before moving back to the South to her grandmother's hometown, Aix-en-Provence. She lives in Aix-en-Provence with her husband and children and is excited to share her love for cooking and teaching. Cooking brings back fond memories of childhood - creating plates and recipes with her grandmother. It is how Emma expresses her creativity and how she shows her family that she loves them. She is passionate about healthy Mediterranean cuisine and looks forward to helping guests discover Mediterranean cooking! Emma has two kids of her own and is delighted to host couples or families with kids in her home.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (2-8 guests) Meet your host Emma at her apartment in the heart of Aix-en-Provence for a three-course Provencal meal. Depending on the season, your meal might include salade Niçoise and for the main, Tartiflette (a gooey bacon, cheese and potato casserole), Fish with ratatouille served with polenta, anchoïade, tapenade and aïoli with vegetables or Daube Provençale (a traditional beef stew braised in red wine and vegetables) served with baked potato or tagliatelle. Enjoy your meal with your host at her dining table. Your meal concludes with a dessert such as seasonal fruit crumble or strawberry ice cream with meringue.

Cooking experience: (2-8 guests) Meet your host Emma at her apartment in the heart of Aix-en-Provence and begin your Provencal culinary journey with a rosé cocktail. Next, join Emma in her open kitchen to learn to cook a three-course Southern French meal. During your 2-hour Provence cooking lesson, learn to make three seasonal dishes. Depending on the season, your meal might include salade Niçoise and for the main Tartiflette (a gooey bacon, cheese and potato casserole), fish with ratatouille served with Polenta, anchoïade, tapenade and aïoli with vegetables or Daube Provençale (a traditional beef stew braised in red wine and vegetables) served with baked potato or tagliatelle. Because stews take a long time to cook and taste better the longer they cook, Emma may serve you an already prepared stew for lunch and not the one you helped cook. Enjoy the meal you helped cook with Emma (and her family when they're available) at the dining table. You will conclude your meal with a seasonal fruit crumble or strawberry ice cream with meringue.

Market visit: (1-5 guests) Meet Emma at her home and after a quick coffee, walk 5 minutes to the Marché des Producteurs on the Place Richelme. This is a lively outdoor market filled with colorful Mediterranean produce in the spring and summer. Walk through the market and explore with your host local and regional produce sold by her favored vendors at the market. You will purchase a few ingredients that you will use during your cooking class after the market tour. Your market tour will last about 45 minutes.

Please note that the farmer's market is only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays mornings and the markets in the winter (Nov - Mar) are not as vibrant during other times of the year as there might be fewer vendors.

Notes: Please choose the alcohol add-on if you'd like to include wine with your meal and indicate at the time of booking if you prefer white, rosé or red wine with your dish. This experience is child friendly.
