Meet Ciara

Ciara is a true artist with food and is able to create delicious vegan treats that make you forget there is no meat in the meal. Ciara’s love for cooking started as a four-year old helping her mother make meatballs and curries in the kitchen. She has been cooking ever since! As a teenager, she catered parties and later studied hotel management and cooked professionally, running kitchens in Sydney. A vegetarian herself, she was disheartened when cooking tons of meat professionally and decided to become a vegan. She wanted to cook the things she enjoyed cooking and eating and started offering 100% vegan cooking classes. Ciara likes to encourage people to eat a more plant-based diet by cooking delicious vegan foods that she sells in local Irish markets. She recently released a cookbook titled “Happy Vegan Christmas”! She is passionate about bringing people happiness through food and by introducing them to delightful flavor combinations that she has perfected in a variety of kitchens from Sydney to London to Limerick. She is excited to share her cooking talents with travelers as well as to share and listen to their new culinary ideas.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (3-6 guests) Meet your host Ciara at her beautifully designed urban townhouse in Limerick. Sip on a refreshing drink and nibbles as your host shares stories about life in Ireland and around the world as a professional in hotel management. Join Ciara at her kitchen as she puts the finishing touches on your meal before you sit down at the dining table (or outdoors in her garden, weather permitting) to share an incredibly flavorful vegan meal together. You will enjoy seasonal, Mediterranean and internationally influenced creative cuisine. Your 3-course meal may include dishes such as a smoked carrot pate served on black cabbage with a dill dressing, an aubergine and wild mushroom pie topped with sweet potato and crunchy radishes, and a dessert of chocolate and coconut cake or chocolate mint mousse. Tea or coffee upon request.

Cooking experience: (2-6 guests) Join your host Ciara at her charming home for a vegan cooking class in Limerick. Your cooking class will take place in Ciara's Greek style kitchen with white and blue accents where you will learn to cook a global vegan meal from recipes she has created that have been influenced by her travels. Your cooking demonstration will last about two hours. During this time you will watch Ciara prepare three dishes from scratch, while chatting, eating and helping Ciara prepare a few of the ingredients for the meal. Please note this is not a hands-on cooking class, but a cooking demonstration in which you will have the chance to watch an expert cook and learn the tips and techniques involved in putting together a vegan meal before you sit down at the table to share the meal together.

Market visit: (1-6 guests) Meet your host Ciara at the entrance to the local Milk market in Limerick city. This is a busy and lively canopy-covered market. As you walk through the local market, discover with your host local and regional produce sold by her favored vendors, many of whom know Ciara very well. You will purchase a few ingredients that will be used in your vegan cooking demo. Your market tour will last about one hour before you hop into Ciara’s car and drive ten minutes to her home.

Please note that the market tour is only offered on Saturdays when the local market is open.

Notes: Ciara offers pick-up and drop-off for an additional cost from anywhere within Limerick. Please note that market tours are only offered on Saturdays when the market is open.
