Meet Marina and Michele

Meet Marina and Michele, a globetrotter eager to expand her knowledge of different cultures, and a Cordon Bleu professional chef passionate about teaching other people how to cook. Marina and Michele are long-time friends who met many years ago and decided to collaborate as Traveling Spoon hosts to enjoy their mutual passions together.

Marina lived and studied abroad at different moments of her life. She is a Food & Beverages marketing consultant who has worked for several companies with a focus on new product launches, health, responsible consumption and consumer trends. In her free time, she pursues her passion for photography, wine tasting and traveling.

Michele is a French descendant born in Argentina. Her father was a diplomat in Argentina, so she knows a thing or two about hosting people from all over the world with her family. Michele studied as a professional chef at Le Cordon Bleu while she lived in Peru. She has also completed special courses at the Blue Elephant in Thailand and through the Argentine Chef Association, and she is a member of the Academíe Culinaire in France. Although she has worked in several restaurants as a head chef, she has never stopped hosting people at her home and sharing cooking experiences with travelers from around the globe. Teaching other people how to cook is her passion, and she still does this in culinary schools in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile.

In-home meal: (4-10 guests) Meet Marina and Michele at Marina's apartment in Belgrano, one of Buenos Aires' nicest multicultural neighborhoods. They will host you together along with Marina's teenage daughter, her husband, and her dog and two cute cats who are already part of the family scene.

Marina and Michele will provide several meal options, each one a unique culinary journey that will combine several aspects of Argentinian and Latin American regional cuisines, and include an optional wine pairing. Be prepared to experience the most authentic local dishes. Take a look at the options below, and then please go through the sample menu for each of the options. Each menu offering will be paired with a variety of Argentinian wine representing different grapes and terroirs.

Option 1: DISCOVERING ARGENTINA'S NORTH WEST REGION, will focus on culinary dishes from the provinces of Salta, Jujuy, Tucuman and Santiago.

Option 2: INCAN HERITAGE, a combination of dishes and drinks from Argentina and other Latin American markets

Option 3: THE PORTEÑO CHOICE, a classic from Argentina's capital city

Cooking experience: (4-10 guests) The focus of Michele's cooking class will be to share, learn and experience the cultural heritage and history of the chosen menu as well as the particular culinary techniques involved in each dish.

Guests will participate in the mis-en-place for the chosen menu (preparing and laying out the necessary ingredients for each recipe), and enjoy a hands-on cooking class led by Michele. There is an optional wine pairing that can also be added as a supplement to the experience.

Market visit: (4-10 guests) Start your experience with a unique 45-minute walk (approximately 3 km total), which will include a visit to two food markets, a wine shop, and a regional olive oil shop. Marina and Michele will provide you a glimpse of the architecture and cultural heritage of this incredible multicultural neighborhood before you return home for your meal and cooking lesson.

Notes: Please note Marina and Michele require a minimum of 4 guests to book. Also please note that the host has pets; if you have pet allergies or are afraid of pets, please let them know in advance.

FAQ

    You can cancel your reservation for free up until 48 hours before your experience. Experiences within 48 hours are not refundable.

    If you have a question for your host, you can include a note in the field "Write a note to your host" during the booking process. Once your booking is confirmed, you will be emailed your host's direct contact information and you will also be able to message the host through your profile. You can always cancel your booking and receive a full refund 48 hours or more before your experience. If you have other questions you can also email us at reservations@travelingspoon.com.

    Most of our hosts are able to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies, including vegetarian and gluten free options. For vegetarian travelers, we have an icon on each host profile to indicate whether that host can also offer a fully vegetarian menu. There is a section in the booking form to note any allergies or dietary restrictions which will be sent directly to your host.

    Some hosts offer alcohol as an optional add-on for travelers who are of legal drinking age. Pricing for alcohol is visible on the host profile page and includes one to two glasses of wine, beer or local alcohol.

    Have a flight or other tour planned and can’t make the timing provided? If the timing listed on the host’s profile doesn’t work for you, our hosts can often accommodate timing changes. Because all of our experiences are private our hosts are happy to tailor experiences to meet your travel needs. Simply note your request in the booking process.

    Your card will not be charged until your host accepts your booking. Typically hosts respond to bookings within 72 hours. In the event your host is unavailable on your selected date and your host rejects your booking your credit card will not be charged.

    Your host's detailed contact information, including their phone number, address, and direction notes, will all be provided immediately upon successful confirmation of your experience (after your hosts accepts your booking and your credit card is successfully processed). This information will be emailed to you to the email address you used to sign up, and will also be visible on your Traveling Spoon profile.

    All prices are noted per person prices unless otherwise specified. Transportation is typically charged on a per car basis. Children aged 5-11 are 50% off, and infants aged 0-4 are free. Hosts set their own prices and Traveling Spoon marks up the experiences; on average hosts receive over 70% of the price paid by the traveler.

    Hosts typically respond to booking inquiries within 72 hours. If for some reason you have not heard from your host or if you have any questions you can always contact us at reservations@travelingspoon.com.

    Your safety and security are our top priority. To ensure this, Traveling Spoon personally vets 100% of all hosts, including an in-person host visit, to ensure each host and experience meets our strict quality requirements.

    Some hosts offer transportation as an optional add-on for travelers. Typically this is round trip transportation with pick up and drop off at your hotel. Pricing is quoted per car. Specific instructions for transportation will be provided in your confirmation details when your booking is confirmed.

    Many of our hosts accommodate solo travelers. You can see if a host accepts solo travelers by looking at the traveler range found next to the experience descriptions on the host profile (indicated by the numbers in parentheses next to "In-home meal", "Cooking experience" and "Market visit").

    Most of our Traveling Spoon experiences are incredibly family friendly and can accommodate infants and children. If a host is unable to accommodate children that will be noted in the “Notes” section of their profile. Our child pricing policy is children aged 5-11 are 50% off, and infants aged 0-4 are free.
