Meet Paty

Paty is passionate about hosting and loves inviting people into her home to share good food, conversation and stories. Paty lives with her three daughters in a beautiful residential neighborhood about 40 minutes northwest of Mexico City. Escape the noise of the city to the tree-lined neighborhood of Hacienda Vallescondido where you can enjoy traditional Mexican dishes and local family life. Paty studied gastronomy and food at school with a focus in institutional administration. A native of Mexico City, Paty has lived in the Hacienda Vallescondido neighborhood for several decades, having moved there to raise her family after she married. Her daughters, who will be present for your experience, are also passionate about food. Mariana, her middle daughter, is especially passionate about desserts and will prepare the last course of your meal. Step inside a beautiful home off the beaten path and enjoy traditional Mexican dishes with a local family.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (1-12 guests) Start your experience in Paty’s spacious home with a welcome drink of fresh homemade juice such as limonada with chia or fresh hibiscus juice. Sit on Paty’s terrace in her beautiful garden while you enjoy appetizers like fresh salsas and guacamole, and then head back inside for a traditional Mexican family-style meal. You might enjoy dishes like cochinita pibil, a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork dish from the Yucatán which will be served with fried corn tortillas, or perhaps taste enchiladas de mole, enchiladas with classic mole sauce made from chiles, tomatoes, cumin and other spices. Enjoy your family-style meal in Paty’s dining room with Paty and her daughters. Your meal will end with a traditional Mexican dessert like flan or arroz con leche prepared by Paty’s daughter Mariana.

Cooking experience: (1-6 guests) Join Paty and her family for a traditional Mexican cooking class. After a welcome drink of fresh homemade juice and a small snack, begin your cooking lesson where you will learn to make 2-3 traditional Mexican dishes. Start by learning to make a selection of fresh salsas and guacamole, and then head outside to Paty’s garden where she will teach you to make fresh corn tortillas on her outdoor grill. You will also learn to make one additional dish, a traditional side or dessert such as flan or arroz con leche. After your cooking lesson, which will last approximately two hours, sit down for your meal featuring the tortillas and fresh salsas you have just prepared. You will enjoy your tortillas with meat that Paty has already prepared in advance, such as cochinita pibil or a traditional chicken dish. Share your meal indoors at the family dining table or, weather permitting, outside in the garden.
