Cooking experience: (2-6 guests) Enjoy a Puerto Rican cooking class in the heart of San Germán. Begin your culinary experience with a cocktail and a tour of Tony's Victorian Creole home (and B&B). What makes Tony's home special are the walls adorned with original art nouveau paintings from 1912. It might be the only home in the region with original paintings from handmade stencils on wood. Next, join Tony in the kitchen for your Puerto Rican cooking class with a modern twist on traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. You will learn to cook three seasonal Puerto Rican dishes with locally sourced ingredients from Tony's garden or the local markets. Some of the dishes you might learn to cook are traditional rice fritters with a creative guava sauce or chayote escabeche, a local squash packed with antioxidants marinated in citrus and olive oil. After cooking, enjoy your meal on the terrace with a view of the garden (weather permitting) or at the main dining area with a glass of sangria or beer. Please note that your meal may be supplemented with additional dishes that Tony has prepared in advance.
Notes:
1. A carafe of sangria or beer is included in the cost of your experience.
2. Whenever possible, Tony prefers hosting evening experiences as he is typically busy with his B&B guests in the mornings.

A cooking class with Tony is not to be missed! What a brilliant evening full of delicious food, history and Tony’s warm hospitality. We encourage anyone considering an addition to their vacation to schedule time with Tony! You won’t be sorry!- marci March 17, 2026
I cannot rave enough about our PR Cooking Class in Tony's beautifully restored historic B&B. We felt so welcomed! Tony is warm, charming, and funny. Some of us cooked with him and others chose to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The food was next level delicious—real PR flavors and recipes, as I had requested in advance. We had the loveliest evening and couldn't stop talking about it for days. It was my husband's favorite part of our trip. Don't hesitate to book this!! A unique and unforgettable experience.- teresa March 17, 2026
Cooking with Tony was a delightful experience! Not only did we get to help prepare and cook several PR dishes, but Tony gave us background about the dishes as well as the herbs and spices that we used. And the food we cooked was delicious. Now if I can only recreate some of them. Tony also gave us a tour of the B&B which is a beautifully maintained home. It would be great to stay there if I were in PR again.- carmen March 07, 2026
Tony explained the spices used in Puerto Rico and gave us history along the way while we learned to make authentic PR food. It was an experience we will never forget. Beautiful BNB that we will look to book next time we visit.- april February 26, 2026
What are great experience all around! Tony was an excellent guide and was more than happy to help try recreate something recipes I only hadn’t vague descriptions for. He’s very talented with his abilities in both the kitchen and conversation. Don’t hesitate when booking your lessons with him!- rachel February 11, 2026
We had a beautiful lunch with Tony at his historic bed-and-breakfast. He made us authentic Puerto Rican food and showed us all about different spices, and techniques for cooking. We were able to get in the kitchen and do hands-on prep and cooking. Lots of good suggestions and very informative on historical area of San Germane. He went above and beyond making a salad and dessert that we did not ask for. Very accommodating and well worth the price.- emi February 05, 2026
The whole experience was fabulous and was the highlight of our trip!! The dinner was amazing and we learned so much about Puerto Rican cuisine and culture as well as cooking techniques we can bring back home. Tony was a wonderful host and his historic home was beautiful.- Tim February 03, 2026
This was a fantastic experience! The menu was tailored to our preferences and we even made little snacks during the process. The house is beautiful and the hospitality was flawless. I cannot recommend the experience more, it was a highlight of our visit to Puerto Rico.- emily January 21, 2026
I booked on behalf of my clients, and they raved about the cooking class! They enjoyed Tony's personalized menu, tips, and history of the cuisine, and all around had a great time. Highly recommend!- Wolly January 10, 2026
Highly recommend this experience! Tony is gracious, charming, fascinating, patient and talented. Our daughter and her partner gave us this shared experience as a gift, and the four of us loved every minute. We treasured our time with Tony, soaking up his historic, cultural and culinary knowledge. With wit and good humour, Tony involved all four of us in the preparation and cooking process, then served our delicious meal. The evening flew by and we were sad to see it end.- lisa December 24, 2025
This was an amazing experience! Tony was very welcoming and knowledgeable. He is a great teacher and great chef! The food was the best we had on the island. We made tembleque, chicken stew and rice, chayote w bacalao and my favorite, bacalaoitos (GF version). We also got to have coquito and sangria. Tony was very helpful with food sensitivities as well! The house is very cool (decorated for Christmas) that is also a BnB. We were there about three hours and the price is very good for what you get, food and expertise from a great chef. Highly recommend this experience. I learned so much and felt right at home there!- Mary December 13, 2025
We are immensely grateful to Chef Tony for an experience that was not only culinary but also deeply human. From the initial call to learn about our preferences to welcoming us with a glass of sangria and a genuine smile in his home, every detail felt thoughtfully considered. Preparing almojábanas, a fresh green salad, rice with beans, and an incredible stuffed pork loin together was special… but the most valuable part was the conversation, the patience, and the feeling of sharing something meaningful. Thank you, Tony, for opening your kitchen, your time, and your heart to us. We left with much more than an exquisite menu; we left with a memory we will cherish. Highly recommended.- Ramon November 16, 2025
Sign up for this!!!!! Tony was more than a pleasure to visit. It started by him calling us (my wife and I) the day before to ask for menu preferences. We are easy peasy and told him that we will cook whatever he wants us to. Fast forward about 24 hours and now we are at Tony's front step. His BnB is in a beautiful Victorian Creole house from 1921 witn a bunch of history he will teach you. Super cool! Tony greeted us at the front gates and I instantly knew we were in for a good time......he was so happy and kind and looked just as excited as we did. Tony instantly made us feel welcome in his house. He offered us some Sangria, gave us our aprons, and told us what we will be cooking. I am sure it will be different for everyone so I won't go too much into what we cooked, but I will say that we made a salad, fritters, a pork stew, and dessert. We had a blast cooking and had great conversation while doing so. If Tony asks to go over the time, do it. He is so full of great conversation and the cooking itself takes some time. Good food isn't always fast food. But I will say the food we had with Tony was some of the best we've had in Puerto Rico so far. This experience was one of the highlights of our honeymoon, and I encourage anyone to do this. Thank you Tony and we will definitely be coming back next time we are in Puerto Rico!- Christina September 24, 2025
We have taken many cooking classes in many countries, and this was by far the most exquisite experience we have ever had. Tony is funny; he is engaged; he is a heck of a chef, and I really felt like I was at a friend’s house, sipping sangria and enjoying conversation and helping him cook. It was me and my husband and our teenage kiddos, and he engaged all of us. And the food! The food! It was the best meal we had in Puerto Rico, and we visited Vieques and Rincon and San Juan. And we ate out every night, a couple of meals a day, and this still was far and away the best meal we had in the entire country. The food was exquisite and authentic and there were so many other little lovely touches. Tony’s home is warm and welcoming… I’m just gushing here, because it was an experience we will never forget!- Manny July 23, 2025
Very down to earth and lovely experience with Tony. We learned about traditional cooking and much more. It was delicious and we plan on returning again someday.- Brian May 13, 2025
I had no idea how far from Rio Grand San German was! It took us over 3 hours each way. That said... it was well worth the trip! And we will do it again! The experience with Chef Tony was exactly what we had hoped for! He was gracious, knowledgeable and an amazing teacher. The menu was wonderful and his home beautiful (especially the garden/deck where we dined. We were even able to assist in the prep work for our meal which was very fun! The food was plentiful and delectable! Everything was so fresh and yummy! Tony even allowed us to stay an extra hour to learn more about the history of PR and this historic town. We went directly from Tony's to his local corner market to purchase the spices he recommended and showed us how to use. I highly recommend this experience! Tony is a wonderful, accommodating host who obviously enjoys what he does!!- Michell April 26, 2025
We had a fabulous evening with Tony. He called the day before so we could plan the menu. He was very accommodating when I asked for 2 special dishes that I remembered my grandmother making years ago. One I knew, was an extensive recipe but he figured out a way to give me the taste I longed for in a slightly different form. And I was thrilled to learn how to make the other recipe. He taught us some tricks about how to create a mixture of Puerto Rican spices that are in many different dishes to save time. The dinner was absolutely delicious! The setting beautiful. And it was an absolute delight to share the evening together.- Glynn April 14, 2025
If you want to have a Fabulous time in a beautiful, antique home filled with tons of history, THIS is the place for you. Not only did we learn so much about the house and town but also learned how to make some Yummy food. I am still thinking about the chocolate coconut tembleque (custard). It is perfect for a Romantic Date Night experience, but also family friendly. Chef Tony was so Hospitable, Friendly, Funny and a Great Teacher. After our session we felt like family. Looking forward to doing this again in the future. This is a Must-Do!- Sandra March 28, 2025
An absolute must do on any trip to PR. Tony was amazing- not only is his house in San Germán a historical gem, but the food we made was absolutely perfect. Couldn’t get any more authentic. Plus he filled with knowledge of the history of the island. One of our favorite vacation experiences for sure. Oh and be sure to vote for him in the election he will save PR!- Billy_L October 05, 2024
We loved learning the history of the food, the house, and the island. We loved hearing his family stories as we cooked some of his traditional meals. He served us at the end and let us enjoy the space and food. Tony was VERY hospitable and the food was DELICIOUS!- Shelby July 23, 2024
Absolutely amazing Experience! This is what my husband and I like to do whenever we travel, cook with a local. We spoke with Tony a few days beforehand and he offered us the option to do it as a cooking class or for him to do the cooking and serve us. We definitely wanted to be hands on. He was extremely flexible with the menu options. We wanted to learn local cuisine and he and came up with an excellent menu for us to make together. He was prepared when we arrived and we got right into making food! He was so friendly telling stories, cracking jokes, and making sure we were doing ok. We got distracted at times and so it ended up taking longer than expected but we were prepared to spend all day there and we had so much fun the time flew by! When we were done cooking, he served us on his beautiful patio. We also got the chance to chat and then took a tour of his bed and breakfast that he runs in this beautiful unique historic building. I loved our time with Tony and would definitely recommend this as a must do for a lot of our friends and family. So down to earth, such a sweet palce, and easily our favorite thing we've done in puerto rico! Also the best local food we have had here too! What to expect: - No A/C, it will be hot - No set schedule, do yourself a favor and don't have somewhere to be afterwards so you can relax and enjoy the experience - This isn't a super structured class with a written down recipe. This is part of why I loved it, because using the memory of a recipe as a suggestion is how I like to cook. I did make sure to take notes though. Local foods we made: - chaote shrimp salad - almojábanas (fried dough balls) - mofongo - cod in a sofrito onion tomato sauce - fried pork - arroz y habichuelas (rice & beans) - coconut & mango tembleque (like panna cotta) Everything was delicious!- Camille May 27, 2024
One of the true highlights of my trip. Chef Tony was incredibly generous with his time, friendship, and home. He was super flexible with the itinerary. The home is a piece of beautiful history and the downtown plaza of San German was just a block away. Do this for an authentic meal and wonderful experience.- Elizabeth May 25, 2024
Chef Tony is EXCELLENT ! We booked this experience for our daughter's birthday and the whole event was AMAZING ! From the minute we met him, Chef Tony was completely engaged, made sure we were safe in his restaurant-level kitchen AND had FUN all at the same time ! Chef Tony customized the menu to foods that she loves, including fresh fruit, rice, plantains (made into pinones), salad, sushi, pork as main course and tembleques (pudding-like) for dessert, and was willing to customize the experience on the spot if we wanted last-minute changes. He showed us his B and B "mansion" with great pride and joy. We loved his chatter as well as his friendly way while we were preparing the food. Would ABSOLUTELY and POSITIVELY recommend this experience !! The food was fresh and SO, SO, SO tasty ! THANKS Chef Tony !- mari_k March 24, 2024
