Aastha is an Indian home cook living in Antwerp, passionate about sharing the diverse and rich flavors of Indian cuisine with locals and travelers. Growing up surrounded by the aromas of her family’s kitchen, Aastha’s culinary journey began at the age of 12 when she first made 'besan ka halwa' with her mother. This Indian sweet, made with gram flour, sparked a lifelong love for cooking. Although Aastha has not professionally trained as a chef, her cooking is deeply rooted in her family recipes and traditions, with both her parents being exceptional cooks. Her experience reflect the true essence of Indian food, which is far more than just curry and naan. Aastha proudly shares a wide variety of regional dishes, from North Indian to South Indian to popular street food, offering an immersive experience in Indian cuisine, culture, and culinary traditions.
When we asked Aastha why she would like to be a Traveling Spoon host, this is what she had to say: "Cooking is not just a skill for me; it’s a cherished tradition that flows through my veins, connecting me to my heritage and allowing me to share the rich flavors of my culture with others."

It was a very fun experience to do as a couple. Beforehand we agreed on a recipe based on Aastha's suggestions which we altered a little bit. We chose the cooking experience so we could learn to cook Indian food ourselves. We learned a lot while cooking and Aastha was very kind which led to a relaxing cooking experience. I'm not experienced at cooking food at all but that was no problem as I was able to choose to stick to the easier tasks. After the cooking we sat down for to enjoy our relaxing dinner and the food was amazing!!- Mary February 08, 2026

On a cold january evening me and my wife had a cooking class together with Aastha. Aastha is a very friendly lady and loves to cook all kind of indian dishes. Despite it being her hobby, everything was very professional. She received us into her private kitchen, about 3 kilometers outside the center of Antwerp. And in about 2,5 hours she explained us how to make a fresh Tikka masala, Parathas in different styles and a nice smelling Masala Chai. If you like Indian food, this is a nice experience!- bart January 04, 2026
