Youssouf is a software consultant, tennis player and animal rescuer in Marrakech. His wife, Giselle, is former art teacher and an animal rescuer as well. Together they enjoy traveling, cooking and hosting people at home. Youssouf’s loves experimenting in the kitchen, he is influenced by ingredients and cooking techniques he picks up when he travels and enjoys mixing different flavors and textures to create something unique. Apart from cooking, he also loves making cocktails and has a huge variety of infused rum with local spices such as cinnamon, vanilla, star anise and even cherries and berries when in season. Through this experience, Youssouf and Giselle would like to introduce you to the local produce of Morocco from the olive oil to the spices to the honey, the fruits and vegetables.

In-home meal: (2-6 guests) Join Youssouf and Giselle in their farm outside of Marrakech, which is beautifully decorated with traditional furniture. On the other side of their land they created a kennel where 16 rescued dogs live. They are excited to welcome you to their home, give you a glimpse of their everyday lives, share stories of living in Morocco and share with you a traditional Moroccan or Mediterranean meal. A few dishes that you might try at Youssouf and Giselle's home are Moroccan lentils or zaalouk (smoked eggplant salad) or taktouka (Moroccan salad made with tomatoes, smoked peppers and garlic), Moroccan meatballs or baby chicken with saffron and preserved lemon sauce and olives or vegetarian tajine with seasonal vegetables and seasonal fruit salad with a touch of orange blossom. Enjoy your meal with a glass of Moroccan wine or a cocktail with infused rum or a mocktail and a homemade limoncello.
Cooking experience: (2-6 guests) Roll up your sleeves and join Youssouf in his home kitchen to learn to prepare a few traditional Moroccan dishes with a twist. In your Marrakech cooking class, you will learn to make 2 dishes from scratch - an appetizer and a main dish. Which you will later enjoy with your hosts. You can expect the cooking lesson to last about 1.5 hours.
Notes: Youssouf can accommodate lactose free, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets, on request. The cost of your experience includes return hotel transfers and a glass of cocktail or wine.
