Meet Adriana

Adriana is from a small city in Pereira, located in the heart of the coffee region of Colombia. She loves to travel, cook and meet new people. Ever since she was very young, Adriana was fond of cooking with her family. She graduated as an industrial engineer and then owned a pastry catering business for about five years. After that, she travelled through several countries and lived abroad where she worked as a Pastry Chef in renowned French restaurants in New York and Toronto. And then after she returned back home to Colombia, Adriana has been passionate about showcasing her culture and cuisine to travelers. She rescues ancestral cooking techniques and cooks traditional Colombian dishes from different regions around the country, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Adriana believes that Colombia is so much more than coffee and bandeja paisa (a popular Colombian meal) and that is exactly what she wants to share through this experience - behind each recipe there is a story about her ancestors and how she learned to cook the dish.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

Cooking experience: (2-4 guests) This experience will take place at Adriana’s farmhouse. She supports small businesses in her community by purchasing and using organic ingredients that are produced by locals in her area, and even her farm. Because Colombia is so diverse in many aspects such as food, flavors, and colors, it makes it easy for her to experiment and be creative when it comes to cooking. Through this experience you will learn about traditional Colombian food, ancestral recipes, endemic ingredients, and the history behind each dish. You can choose to cook from one of the two menus that follow, please let Adriana know your menu preference while booking the experience online:

TRADITIONAL COLOMBIAN MEAL, through this experience you will get to cook and share a traditional everyday meal. In your 2-3 hour hand-on cooking class, you will learn how to make a delicious colombian dish. And after cooking, sit down at the table to share a meal you helped prepare, which will be served with fresh fruit juice and a typical colombian dessert.

FRUIT TASTING FIESTA, you will get to taste 20 different varieties of seasonal fruits, 2 cheeses from the region, 3 jams, 2 juices and 1 chutney. You will participate in a party of colors, flavors and aromas, as you will prepare a jam with the fruit of your choice, that you can take home with you. All your senses will be awakened as you taste and learn about so many tropical and exotic fruits in this 1.5 hour hands-on class. You will not only taste new delicious flavors, but also learn about their history and properties and long-lasting health benefits. At the end of the experience, you will be able to prepare a delicious and nutritious fruit juice of your choice, and also a fruit jam to take home with you.
