Meet Patricia

Patty and her husband Enrique live in a gorgeous, sprawling ranch-style home near Lampa, outside of Santiago in the countryside. Her countryside home is a 45-min Uber drive from central Santiago and costs about 22,000 pesos (~$25) to get to her home. Patty's property boasts fruit and nut trees of every variety (from mandarin to fig, pomegranate to walnut) and a huge vegetable and herb garden. You will be welcomed with open arms and a bottle of Carménere into a house that is both modern and filled with old-world charm. The tall ceilings, gilded paintings, and Victorian furniture are magnificent, but the wood stove, inviting earth-tones, and greenery give the place a feeling of warmth alongside luxury. The kitchen is large and modern, with an island that allows everyone to congregate easily and cook together. The shelves are heaped with the produce collected from Patty’s garden. Patty’s husband has spent much of his professional life traveling for work, as is evident by the display of art pieces from all over the world, from a traditional Austrian Cuckoo clock to stone statues from China. Patty lived in Canada for 20 years and works as a systems analyst.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (1-20 guests) Gather at Patty’s table to enjoy a sumptuous Chilean meal of traditional favorites. Patty is a skilled cook who loves to entertain. Patty has a reputation at work for hosting the best dinner parties and as soon as anyone at the office finds out that Patty is cooking over the weekend, they try and weasel their way into an invitation in the hopes of tasting her famous pastel de choclo or her husband’s asado! During your meal experience with Patty she will treat you to a menu of seasonal Chilean dishes using produce from her garden. She might serve pastel de choclo (a casserole similar to shepherd’s pie made with corn and chicken), chupe de mariscos (seafood stew) or cazuela (a typical Chilean soup).

Cooking experience: (1-20 guests) Join Patty in the kitchen to learn how to prepare a traditional Chilean meal. Patty can offer you a cooking demonstration or give you a hands-on cooking lesson – just let her know your preference. During your Chilean cooking lesson, she will teach you to make dishes that she and her family grew up eating and love. As you cook together Patty will tell you about the ingredients she uses and about growing up in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother. Learn to make a couple of traditional Chilean dishes before sitting down at the table to enjoy the meal you helped prepare.

Patty and her husband are a delight! They are great conversationalists, Patty is bubbling with energy and enthusiasm, and it was very easy to feel at home with the couple in their inviting home. The food was superb! Patty did a great job of highlighting traditional Chilean cuisine. I felt like I was coming home for a family gathering with good, old-fashioned comfort food. Patty’s enthusiasm for keeping tradition alive while expanding her culinary horizons through travel and international friends makes for an unforgettable evening in the Chilean countryside.

Cooking with Patyy and her husband was a awesome experience. They welcomed us into their home like we were family. The food that we made was delicious. And the stories we shared will last a lifetime.

Dinner with Patty and Enrique was very special. Enrique greeted us at the gate then gave us a tour of their gardens before we settled in with our aprons to help Patty prepare our meal, which we enjoyed with terrific local wine from Enrique's collection. We had such a fun evening together, sharing stories about our lives and travels. What a wonderful way to learn about Chilean food and culture!

This cooking class was easily one of the best parts about my trip to Santiago de Chile. First, the food was to die for. We made a wide variety of dishes from the delicious "chancho en piedra" salsa (almost like a Chilean guacamole) to the "paltas rellenas" (avocados stuffed with a rich tuna) to the unforgettable salmon and roasted potatoes to finish. To drink, there were two bottles of rich Carmenère wine alongside a pitcher of pisco sour for us to share. Upon arrival, we were also greeted with several tasty cheeses, fresh bread, and dips to munch on as we prepared the rest of the food. It was easily the best meal I had during my time in the country. Second, the hosts—Patricia and her husband Enrique—were some of the most fun and warm people my girlfriend and I met have met in a long time. The two of them welcomed us into their home as if we were family. The conversation was top-tier; we shared travel stories, recipes, and more. They were engaging, friendly, and open, and it was such a treasure to hear about their life stories as we shared dinner together. Patricia has organized these traditional Chilean cooking classes for over seven years now, and her experience, as well as her passion for cooking, truly shows. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you for everything!

Patty and Enrique made us feel like family. We were greeted with a traditional pisco cocktail and charcuterie board, followed by a fabulous dinner. We ate and laughed for over four hours. I would highly recommend a dinner with Patty and Enrique!

The cooking experience and Dinner with Patty & Enrique was fabulous! We had a blast first of all preparing the traditional Chilean dishes by enjoying delicious red wine and cheese and listening to very interesting stories of Patty´s and Enrique´s life. Afterwards, we tasted the dishes we had prepared over some more wine which was carefully selected by Enrique. Both, Patty & Enrique, welcomed and hosted us so warmly that it felt like a dinner with friends rather than a dinner with people we had just met some hours ago. We would definitely recommend to spend an evening with them and learn about the Chilean cuisine. First, we were not sure if the long drive to the countryside was worth it, but it definitely was and we would always opt for cooking with Patty & Enrique again. Thank you both for having us :)

Truly enjoyed preparing local fresh fare with Patricia and Enrique! Using fresh ingredients, including some picked from their garden, along with delicious Chilean wine made for a special evening for my wife and I. Being able to share that with two kind hosts in their beautiful home is an added bonus. Highly recommend!!

Amazing experience! Patricia and Enrique welcomed me as i was part of the family, with a nice glass of wine and introduced me to some really tasty chilean cuisine with fresh products. We had really good conversation and their english was perfect (which helped a lot). I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoy cooking and share a great experience with locals!

The 35-minute drive was well worth it to visit the home of Patricia Reyes. She and her husband greeted us as if we were long lost relatives and immediately cracked a delicious bottle of wine to welcome us. We learned to make Curanto, a wonderful seafood stew. Before dinner, we enjoyed a walk through their orchard and gardens. Dinner was delicious and the conversation about current events so compelling. Plus we loved their dogs!

We had a traveling Spoon dinner with Patty and Enrique in their beautiful home in the countryside of Santiago. It was so nice to get out of the city and see a Chilean home. They arranged for transportation at a very reasonable price for us through TS. We relaxed with homemade appetizers and drinks in their garden. Patty invited us in to watch her do some cooking while Enrique poured the wine and took care of the BBQ. The food was delicious with salads and all kinds of meat choices. It was a Wonderful Experience to get to know the lives of 2 Chileans and enjoy the meal with them. Patty even baked me a special traditional surprise birthday cake which was very special. We feel like we have a true Chilean experience along with new friends. I HIGHLY recommend this experience.

Patricia and her husband Enrique were wonderful hosts, very warm and welcoming. Enrique picked me up from my apartment in Santiago, and filled me in on what It's like living in modern day Chile. Patricia had drinks and nibbles ready on arriving ...all local Chilean specialties...with her own beautiful personality addded to every dish!
