Meet Ine

Ine grew up near Ghent in East Flanders and learned to cook from her father. While her mother cooked during weekdays, it was her father who recruited her help to create special meals for friends they hosted over the weekends. Ine now hosts her friends at her home and we hear that they wait to be invited for gourmet meals at her modern, minimalist apartment. Her apartment overlooks gardens of neighboring homes and is a peaceful oasis in the city. Like many Belgians, Ine grows her own herbs on her balcony and makes use of them in all her food from her creative mocktails and flavored water to her soups and appetizers. Ine is a communications professional but her passion is gastronomy. Menu planning and experimenting with the latest culinary techniques is one of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoys eating at gourmet restaurants and staying abreast of new cooking trends. Ask Ine for recommendations of some of the best restaurants in Brussels, Antwerp, Brugge and Ghent.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (2-5 guests) Join Ine for a modern, gourmet Belgian inspired meal in her modern home. Ine's food is light and creative and offers a wide variety of flavors, textures and colors following culinary trends. Your meal will be served in courses, typically an hors d'œuvre, a starter, a main and dessert. Your menu might include dishes such as green pea gazpacho, squid with tomato coulis, roasted chicken and herbed potatoes and whole roasted dorade. Ine cooks Belgian inspired international cuisine. Her flavors are delicately balanced and offer a variety of textures.

Cooking experience: (2-5 guests) Join Ine at her modern kitchen for a Brussels cooking class in the heart of the city. With a refreshing drink in hand, pick up a few cooking tips and techniques as you cook a gourmet meal with Ine. You can expect the cooking portion of your experience to last about two hours before you sit down to enjoy the meal you helped prepare. You will also learn how to simply but beautifully present the meal you made.

Market visit: (2-5 guests) Meet Ine at her apartment and walk together to Le Marché Bio, a covered organic market less than a 10 minute walk away. Explore seasonal vegetables, fruits and breads from the local region before purchasing a few ingredients for your cooking class in Ine's kitchen. Please note that on Sundays, you may explore a local farmer's market instead.

Notes: Wine is included in the cost of your experience.

PERSONALLY VETTED REVIEW
A Traveling Spoon ambassador visited this host. Here is their personal review.

Ine is a true artist with food! After the heavy stews and rich sauces I tasted in Belgium, Ine's fresh, light and colorful dishes were a delightful respite. She is a wealth of knowledge about the city and its restaurants and takes great pride and care in creating and presenting her dishes. I had a truly wonderful meal and delightful afternoon with the lovely Ine. Even the way she presented me with drinking water was fun - in tall bottles filled with fennel, thyme and cucumber in one and strawberries, lemon and mint in the other. It was spa water! She is a wonderful person to chat with about Brussels and her passion for food and presentation really shines through. Her pea gazpacho was a vivid green and the calamari in tomato coulis just melted in my mouth. I had a wonderful food experience with Ine in her minimalist, modern apartment in Brussels.

We absolutely loved our experience with Ine. We had a truly memorable evening. Ine took us around the area, showing us several stores and shops. Then we went to her apartment where we enjoyed a wonderful evening filled with conversation, laughter, wine, champagne, and of course, food. Ine was a gracious host, and we stayed much longer than we had intended. It was truly like spending an evening with a long-time friend.

Her kitchen was spotless clean and good size for 4 of us (including Ine) work together. One of us is a vegan, but Ine flexibly arranged the whole menu perfect. All of us could learn the tips of cooking at first hand whth Ine's explanation. We had very fruitful conversation through having lunch together. All in all, it was valuable experience for all of us(me and my friends). If We had another opportunity? Yes! We would love to join. We appreciate Ine for her very effort and thoughtfulness.

My mother, my sister, and I met Ine at her home in Brussels. Ine was a gracious host and an amazing chef. She prepared a multi-course dinner that was perfectly in tune with the unseasonable hot temperatures Brussels was experiencing. All of the ingredients were very fresh and the different courses were beautifully presented and very delicious. We also had fantastic wine that was made by Ine and her friends. I highly recommend this experience.

My fiancé and I had a wonderful evening with Ine. She's kind, professional, fun, and a joy to cook with/learn from. We had a lot of variety and multiple sessions of cooking followed by eating/relaxing. She's great to chat with - and even let us practice our Dutch/Flemish. Would definitely recommend!

I booked a cooking lesson with Ine during a trip to Brussels back on October 8, 2017. I feel really bad that I am writing my review only now, because she hosted such a great class. She is a funny and energetic person with really great recipes to share. The class is at her flat with room for probably at most 4 to eat and cook. 2 people in the kitchen is probably most preferred. Her kitchen was more than adequate to host the class. We prepared several courses, but I was limited to seafood and vegetables because of my diet. Ine was very accommodating and I really enjoyed the trip to the market she prepared. Her neighborhood seems trendy with several great markets in very close proximity. If you are a lone traveler like me, or you travel with a friend/partner then I highly recommend Ine's class. I had so much fun with her and it was a great way to close out my adventure to Brussels.
