Cooking experience: (1-18 guests) Step into a beautiful historic home in San Telmo, one of Buenos Aires’ most charming and culturally rich neighborhoods, for an interactive empanada cooking class with local host Deborah. Begin by getting to know each other while learning about the history of Argentine empanadas before donning your apron and preparing the dough completely from scratch. This hands-on Buenos Aires cooking class encourages creativity and experimentation as you learn to make two types of empanadas, including traditional hand-cut beef and a cheese, basil, and tomato version, while customizing the fillings with your own blend of spices. Along the way, write down the recipes and cooking techniques so you can recreate the dishes at home. Deborah is especially passionate about teaching children, making this family-friendly experience perfect for kids, students, birthdays, reunions, couples, team-building activities and travelers looking for an authentic cultural activity in Buenos Aires. Kids are encouraged to participate and take the lead in the cooking process. After cooking, gather on the patio to enjoy the homemade empanadas you prepared together, paired with local Argentine wine for adults and soda for all guests. End your meal with homemade dulce de leche alfajores for dessert. Vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice. Please note that while gluten-free empanadas are available to eat, the dough-making portion uses wheat flour.
Notes: This private, 3-hour educational and interactive empanada cooking class in San Telmo is fully customizable and can be tailored to your interests, dietary preferences, and group needs. Children are charged at the same rate as adults. Please note that this home has a cat, however the cat will not be present during the cooking class.
