Meet Isa and Daniel

Isabel and Daniel have been in the food industry for many years and it is their passion for food that brought them together. Daniel is a seasoned professional chef and started his career at the restaurant of Francis Mallmann, South America's most beloved chef and a meat and fire artist. Working with Mallmann, Daniel got to travel and cook throughout Brazil and the United States, experiencing exotic culinary experiences and becoming a meat expert. Isabel is a professional sommelier passionate about wine. They met at a catering event: Daniel was the lead chef and Isabel the event coordinator. Together they opened a restaurant in San Isidro, an upscale residential neighborhood in Buenos Aires, and started a catering company. Isa and Daniel share their passion for traveling and meeting new people. Their desire as hosts is to meet, share and learn from different people, and engage in culturally enriching experiences.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (1-10 guests) Daniel and Isa offer two meal options. As a Francis Mallmann apprentice, Daniel’s first option focuses on the fire and smoke coming from the grill. The outcome: not a traditionally served asado, but rather, a gourmet-style experience, starting with small bites of a traditional provoleta (spiced melted cheese on the grill) served on a bruschetta, and a classic mini choripan with homemade bread and chimichurri (a classic argentine sausage served on bread). This will be followed by a wide spread of the most tasty asado starters, locally known as “achuras”, including “mollejas” or sweetbread, and kidneys with homemade national criolla sauce and provenzal. For the main course, choose between classic Argentine cuts of beef: tira de asado, entraña, bife de chorizo or vacio. As your food is prepared and during your meal Isa will provide insight on Argentine wine from different regions of the country, as well as a wine pairing lesson, explaining why her wine selection will perfectly complement your food.

For guests that are into unexplored flavors and would like to be surprised by Daniel’s skills, there’s a second option that Daniel and Isa call “Argentinian with a twist”, combining classic Argentine dishes with tastes from other South American countries. This option may include small bites in the reception such as ossobuco croquettes with panko (Peruvian influenced Argentine appetizer), mini provoletas with tomato pesto and arugula salad as a starter. Your main will be a slow cooked beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon, served with accordion style potatoes and roasted cherry tomatoes.

Please include your preference between option one or two when creating your booking. Depending on the weather and your preference, you can enjoy the meal at Isa and Daniel’s dining table or head outside and enjoy the view.

Cooking experience: (1-10 guests) Step into Isa and Daniel's home and enjoy a hands-on Buenos Aires cooking class. You will cook an appetizer and starters alongside Daniel, a seasoned chef and Francis Mallmann apprentice. Your cooking class will last about an hour during which you will learn how to set the barbecue's fire, spice the meat and slow cook it to reach Mallmann's standards. Should you choose the second option, Daniel will teach you how to creatively combine the most traditional flavors from several Latin American countries, and make delicious dishes such as ossobuco croquettes or mini provoletas with pesto.

Notes: The lunch experience is only provided on weekends as Isa and Daniel work during weekdays.
