WHAT WILL YOU COOK TOGETHER:
Mixed dal (lentils) and Aloo gobi (spiced potatoes and cauliflower) or Chana Masala (chickpea curry)

1/4 cup whole red lentils + 1/4 cup split yellow pigeon peas + 1/4 cup spilt chickpeas + 1/4 cup spilt black lentil + 1/4 cup petite yellow lentils OR any lentils you have
Oil or ghee
2 medium onions, finely chopped
3 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger, minced or paste
4 tablespoons coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
A pinch of asafetida (optional)
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 cups (180 grams) cauliflower
1 cup (2 medium size) potato
1 tablespoon ginger garlic, minced or paste
1 green chilly chopped (can skip this if you don’t like spice)
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
About your host
Shalini completed her masters in computer science and now works part-time at her husband’s company. After she got married, Shalini learned to cook from her mother-in-law, an excellent cook who will co-host your Traveling Spoon experience! Shalini enjoys cooking traditional Rajasthani dishes with her mother-in-law, who has been cooking for the past 40 years, and is often seen experimenting in the kitchen. Cooking is Shalini's favorite way to relieve stress and she is passionate about sharing her Rajasthani culinary traditions and family recipes. Your menu includes two dishes, mixed dal, a scrumptious as well as healthy lentil curry and aloo gobi, a vegetarian dish made with potatoes, cauliflower, and Indian spices.
